Didn't see this post when I bought it on sale. If you guys are up for playing sometime, let me know on steam, I'm usually available. I've got the 30days playtime included.

I picked up STO from Steam, but it's taking forever to update. As of today it's been a week since initial purchase and it's still updating. It may have something to do with a download limit that I've exceeded but I don't expect to be playing until February. Aside from that I like the Steam updating system and expect to buy more games from them.

Is this free2play yet on Steam? It's been off the Store for a while, but still in my account, thinking of reinstalling.

so luckily i was as impressed as i hoped i would be by this game. ground combat is a little wonky as i expected, my only issue is the mission/journal/log, as i lacks detail or info at times. Either way. fun times were had and klingons were killed.

Yeah, they don't make it easy for new players to jump in. Part of the problem is that the lower level routine has changed so much since I first went through the process that I was probably telling you the wrong thing half the time.

What really makes this game fun for me is the space combat. They have done a great job with making some of these fights look and feel epic.

yes, the space combat is in fact great. teamwork and setting up your weapon bays well seem to be a huge factor. reminds me of that old trek game we played with the ships, i'm at a loss as to what it was called.

I can't find it either. The only thing I can find is the trailer but the link is broken. I still launch the STO launcher via steam. I don't know what is going on.

joe just, DL the launcher from the STO site. you'll be able to pick what kind of subscription you want from there.

if you go to earth base now, i did this yesterday, a quest will trigger to award you a free ship. granted the ship you receive is for vice admirals, but hey, free ship. i don't know if its class specific, i received an odyssey class which is friggin gigantic.

The Odyssey is a cruiser. It has the most hit points of any playable ship. It's important to note that no ship is class specific. And player, be it Tactical, Science, or Engineer, can fly any type of ship. In fact, with the most recent Skill Tree update they intentionally allow you to spec your character so that you are not penalized for flying a different type of ship. In the past, you had to put skill points into specific class of ships. These skills are now generic. So now I fly an Exclesior refit and I have as much hit points and shield points as a cruiser captain would have.

It was only durign the 2yr anniversary event, which is over iirc. I did the mission and got the ship, can't use it till level 50. And fyi, it's back on Steam, and appears to have achievements coming. Wonder how that will work for those of us already half way through the levelling.
