Hey guys,

For the new guys: DTC used to be our Dontcamp Teamplay Committee. This was a self appointed group of community members who got together on a regular basis to discuss the state of Dontcamp and to give the CH leadership feedback on the day to day happenings of the site and game server(s). I'd like to get this going again!

Several of you have brought up using social media to help advertise the BF4 server and Dontcamp.com. I think this is a great idea and I want to hear everyone's ideas.

I was thinking of getting together on Teamspeak this weekend and talking through everyone's ideas. I'll be taking notes! Since everyone's schedules are a little different I'm scheduling to sessions:

Session 1: Saturday, June 21st - 2pm to 3pm - Eastern
Session 2: Saturday, June 21st - 9PM to 10Pm - Eastern

If you're interested in attending the meeting but can't make these times, please let me know and we'll work something out.

This meeting will be to brain storm on ideas. I'll take our notes and discuss it further with the other CH. We'll have another discussion, most likely on the forums and on teamspeak, on the specific ideas we want to carry through with. That will be the time we decide on which social media outlets we should focus on, find volunteers to help manage social media, and generate useful content (videos, blogs, how-to's etc).

Please go ahead and start brain-storming ideas in this thread. I'll compile any ideas for the meetings this weekend.

Obviously, the first thing I'd wanna ask is, what exactly are the goals?

That's a great question. My personal goal is to have more Dontcampers. How many? I'm not sure. I'd like better coverage during the day so that Clavis can take a vacation if he needs to. The bulk of us only come out to play in the late evenings. I'd like to see more regulars playing earlier in the day. If that means a younger audience (college and high school players) then so be it. It'd be an opportunity to pass on our love of balanced gameplay.

Specifically regarding social media. I think a strong dontcamp.com presence in the right space may help boost our server population. We need to define how Dontcamp is different than other servers and to be very focused on being good at what we want to do. An example is that we should really hammer home how much fun playing as a tight squad can be. This is something we've always talked about but as of late it's something we're being a little lazy about. I'm very guilty of this.

Another example of our niche could be the teaching of strong in-game leadership.

Additionally, I'd love more discussions with other BF4 players that don't suck. More discussion on the various videos we post. More tactics and teamplay discussions. In general, more engagement with other Battlefielders. Yes there is reddit, but I find it too encompassing and contains too many bitchy ass-players.

This is what I'd like to see, but dontcamp is a community and the course we set is based in large part on what the community would like to see.

Well if your goal is to just grow the gaming community, might want to consider courting clans with the same ideals as DC.

It's kinda killing 2 birds with one stone as clans tend to be a bit more organized and open to proper squadplay.

I initially didn't know how this could work until i thought about it more. There are probably plenty of clans, or atleast small to medium sized groups of players, who don't own a server. Dontcamp has a very good configured server and would love to have those small groups call our BF4 server home. Good idea.

DTC Meeting Minutes 6/21/2014 9pm Eastern:

Present: Josie Swindella, Monica Lewinsky, Super Wabbit, NTolerance, Clavis, DST

Ideas on building the community:

JoeSwindell: For the videos we create, have an easily searchable web page to help view those.
Mortis: Still need to drive people to the site.
SuperWabbit: What about using the official BattleField forums in addition to Reddit.
Mortis: There is a Platoon recruitment forum.
Mortis: (Given that Dontcamp is about fair and balanced rounds) most players don't seem to know how to do that.
SuperWabbit: So we have an opportunity to educate!
joeSwindell: Regarding Teamspeak, he references PXP that has their home page that says click here to join Mumble.
NTolernace: Have a landing page for people interested in joining the community/clan.
Clavis: I've always felt intimidated with the "Now Recruiting" messages.
NTolerance: We may need to stoop to that level of clan recruitment. We may need to do silly things, like seeding.
Mortis: We need to be active in our recruiting and not just sitting back and hoping people will join.
JoeSwindell: Has an idea that we post on Twitter or wherever and say that there is a game going on.
Clavis: Is there value in a Dontcamp reddit.
JoeSwindell: We need a website and not just a forum. Optimize our search results
JoeSwidnell: Do custom events and offer prizes. Example: the person with the most RPG kills wins a prize.

I'd love to be a benchwarmer on this meeting, had I known. I'll try to keep checking the schedule. Gotta get Premium too.
