Was it just one shot or did he fire multiple shots and walked it in? At that distance, the bullet would have already transitioned from super sonic causing adverse yaw that might not be easy to predict. And I can't imagine the Coriolis effect on a round at that distance. Not to mention environmental factors.

Was he firing from an elevated position? I saw some ballistic math that shows that most scopes and scope bases wouldn't have had enough elevation built in for him to have even seen the target.
