Well, since my saves were lost during the 2.1 update, I have started from scratch.

I am currently buldiing a Rover for a Mun Landing (skycrane method)
Obviously when I get there, I will plant the CockHolster Flag Smile

Once I have a Rover on the surface, i will land a couple of Crew habitation modules near it to provide somewhere for my visiting kerbals to stay.
Pics to follow.

I give up on the Mun, as ive been there before a few times.

So now im aiming for Layhe

In trying to design a lander for Laythe, that uses jet engines to lift back off its surface, but im struggling because my planetry transfer stage is proving to heavy, I think i need to build in two parts in orbit...

I'm still having fun making space stations:

Early versions:

Shot of my first successful orbital rendezvous:
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=162812412

Now that I can rendezvous I've started a hub and spoke arrangement. I first launched a central hub with 6 docking ports. I'm now in the process of launching each spoke individually. I'm halfway there with 3 of the 6 spokes docked. I left a large docking collar on the hub so I can increase the length of what could be come the axle:

2 spoke docked:

3 spokes docked:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=165931857
http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=165931837

For some reason I think it's cool that you can see other parts of the station from inside another part of the station:

My full album:

Dan, can you recommend any good 3rd party station parts or rocket mods that work with the .21 update?

Notice the Rockets to assist in takeoff and give a speed boost at altitude, they are all jettisonable after use.

Thanks, Even though it has 8 Turbojets, its not that fast until you get up high, then for some reason, the turbojets start working better. But then, when you reach speeds of 700m/s + they cannot get enough air in fast enough resulting in a flame out and a loss of control as they dont flameout all at the same time.

I did something wrong and have lost my hub and spoke space station. I guess I'll just have to rebuild it! I'm going to try out some 3rd party space station mods this time. I'm thinking of designing this as a fuel station from the get-go to aid in Mun and other planetary missions. Any suggestions on 3rd party mods would be appreciated!

B9 Aerospace pack.
Mainly used for building Jets, its comes with hundreds of parts that you can add to a Station or Base.

ISA Mapsat
If your going to be putting things in orbit, then you might aswell give it something to do while up there. Polar orbits cover the whole surface when scanning / mapping btw.

KOSMOS Space Station
Lots of Space Station parts, I haven't used this yet but am downloading it as i type.

Launch of new station components. I call this section "Rain Barrles"
Rain Barrels ready for launch - notice the vehicle mass = 1693.34t
Holy crap, it can fly. I guess 30490kN of thrust is enough.
Rain Barrels attached to other station parts. I should now have plenty of fuel for multiple Mun shots. The station has a large crew capacity now. Rain Barrels alone holds 48 crew members.

With a surprise in the Cargo bay

Yes, its own solar array, to be mounted externally

Docked back together in Station format

About to add a Living Quarters to it, (2 x Crew quarters and a Cupola)

You guys are amazing with those builds. I was proud of myself for getting a guy to Minimus and back but those stations are impressive. I'll check out the mods and some more tutorials. This is a very addicting game.

Alt-F12 was used, this was a theoretical experiment. The issue is that you craft will explode several thousand kilometers above the sun's "surface"

Looking good Wabbit, when are you going to be traveling to another Planet?, Duna perhaps?
