Jesus Joe. The 186 is old as Monica's balls. You'll need a TFTP server and the ability to tell the ATA where that TFTP server is. If there is a web interface, you cna set the TFTP IP there. If not you may be able to do it manually by dialing into the ATA using a POTS phone or by setting your DHCP server to hand out the TFTP address via Option 150.

For specifics, all I've got are the following links.

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/products_configuration_example09186a00800c3a50.shtml

It's been awhile since I had to work with these but let me know if you have any questions.

lol yeah...I've been trying to dial with an old phone. It's kind of funny. I'll look through that stuff tomorrow. Most things I've found are instructions for using call manager.

Yes, I have done this and its relatively straight forward.

I had to do it once when one I purchased came with a different firmware..

The way I did it, was to open up a tftp sever on a machine, have the ATA patched into the network, and an analogue phone connected to it.

Press the button on the ATA whilst you have hold of the phone, you then go through a series of menus up until you type in the IP address of your machine running the tftp server.

It then took a matter of seconds, rebooted and it had firmware updated.

There was a doc I found on the Cisco site which basically talked you through it, if I find it agan will post it !

Cheers.

EDIT: I think this was the page ..

Thats what I've been trying. Some of the units are damaged so that might be why it's not working.

Hmmm, give me time to get out of my wheelchair to compose a response on this shit....

It's kinda kind of like being at a restaurant and you go with someone to the bathroom. The other guy says " Kinda smells like mothballs around here. "

I always tell them this: " I never got that close to a moth to smell his balls. "

I believe YOU and Mr. Super Wabbit should place an order, soon - I can use the money.

Here is a demo of my balls saving device. Please place an order ... Soon:

Good luck on your 186 phone.

You assholes that are talking about my balls. Shame on you!
