It's been a long time coming and again, I apologize for the delay but we finally have our own BF4 server. Simply search for Dontcamp in your server browser or via this link:

We are currently running Conquest Large maps with stock and Second Assault maps. This may change as the DLC becomes available for non-Premium players.

Server Rules:
  • Any racist or bigoted language will get you automatically and immediately banned. We believe this type language is primarily associated with hate speech.
  • Any unsportsmanlike behavior can get you kicked/banned:
    • Camping main spawn areas.
    • Utilizing exploits or glitches.
    • Using abuse language towards other players.
    • Griefing or otherwise intentionally hindering your team.
    • No Trolls kthx. Being a Troll is unsportsmanlike and you should know better.


Remember that DontCamp.com was founded on the basis that:
  • online gaming should be fun for every player, no matter if they are winning or losing
  • close games are more fun than lopsided ones
  • through teamwork, respect, and comradery we can create exceptional gameplay


Server Settings, Plugins, and other Configurations:
Settings:
Currently we're running at 48 players Max with an additional 2 commanders being allowed. We have a two map rotations based on population, Seeding map list and Normal map list:
The Seeding map list is designed to help fill the server and is active when the player count is below 20. There are only two maps, Caspian 2014 and Golmud, both set to Conquest Large. Ticket count is set to 1600. Preliminary data indicates that players a large number of players will quit after a round, regardless of quality of game play. Given that data, we've decided that the longer a round lasts, the more players we can entice into joining and the more players we can retain over that time period. We've also found that these types of maps attract players looking for vehicle unlocks.
The Normal map list is automatically enabled once we reach 21 or more players. This map list contains several maps that we feel are currently popular. We will eventually use cold hard data to determine popular maps. The ticket count is reset to 1000 as we find this gives teams a nice safety margin to enact a comeback, if needed.
Plugins:
We have several automated plugins that aim to reduce admin workload. These are aimed at taking care of the majority of the AssHats, though we understand that it may occasionally catch innocent players. If you find that this has happened to you, please understand our intent and do not blow your top. Let us know via Teamspeak or on the Forums and we'll gladly correct the situation.
  • Auto Ban for any racist of bigoted language.
  • Auto Kick on high Battlelog Kill/Death ratio. This is done to keep out the try-hards that typically cause other players to rage quit. We will gladly add you to the white list which will allow you to play on the server. Simply hop on Teamspeak or post in the forums to let us know!
  • Scramble Teams - this will scramble teams if the ending ticket difference is too great. The plugin will keep the squads to together while it does the scramble.
  • Typing !admin in any chat will list the current admins
  • Typing !rules in any chat will list the server rules
  • Try Hard Shamer - this publicly shames players who go onto kill streaks using some pro-kits like the AEK or ACE23. This plugin is only in jest and we carry no ill-will towards those Try-Hards who always try hard.


Above all we want to provide a fun and inviting place for all gamers. Not many people like to play on servers where they would be constantly bombarded with negative remarks and encounter selfish game play. Players who show a lack of respect for their fellow gamers have no place here. Those types of players can quickly kill a server by making other players quit because it is no fun playing against them. All skill levels are welcomed here but please be aware if you are ruining another player's game. As an example, if you are an Attack Jet pilot that cannot be shot down, you have a 30-0 round K/D, and you're on a team with a 500+ ticket lead, please consider the experience of the players on the other team. Maybe you should not be a pilot for a few minutes. Maybe you should let the other team have their first flag before your annihilate them.

Excellent news, cant wait to get some Battlefield gaming in with you guys again.

(It goes without saying that I will happily help deputize the server for you in the UK time zone slots)

Looking through the server settings I found some of interest:

* kill cam off
* only squad leader spawn


I also found a couple settings that seem to be unusual (for some reason I can only see these using the Android app):

* minimap spotting is off
* hit indicator is off


I think that making the game interesting while seeding with a small number of players is really important. We should look into map scaling so that we can have a smaller map when there's only ten players.

I don't know that most people would like hit indicator being turned off. Also, one thing to consider is what changes the server from official to ranked.

I wouldn't mind seeing FF on.

Let's take Shanghai out of the rotation since it crashes so many of the connected clients.

I agree. Server size doesn't seem to affect that either. I've seen it on 64, 48, and 32 player servers.
