Hey everyone! The proposed release date for Battlefield 4 is Tuesday Oct 29th.

I'm gauging interest in renting a BF4 server for DontCamp.com and if everyone can answer the following questions I'd greatly appreciate it. If you don't want to respond publicly, please feel free to send me a PM and I'll keep your answers private.
Did you play the BF4 beta?
Did you pre-ordered BF4?
If you did not preorder, are you planning on ordering BF4 soon?
If you do not plan to play BF4, I'd like to know that as well.

I'd also like to hear any suggestions on what type of server you'd like to see. Whether it's just the vanilla BF4, Hardcore, or custom settings (e.g. no death cam). Also, which game mode would you most like to see?

I've not been a huge fan of single map 24/7 servers. I'd like to see a server focused on a small set of popular maps and game modes with the occasional switch to a less popular map/mode to mitigate the monotony. Again, I'd like to hear the community's thoughts on this.

Finally, we haven't decided on a hosting company yet so please let us know if you have any recommendations. Here are the Battlefield 4 game server providers as listed by EA/Dice.
4NetPlayers
NitroServ
Multiplay
MyInternetServices
I3D
Gameservers.com
Gamed!
NFOservers
Hypernia
Gportal
Fragnet
AusGamers
Rocketblast
ForTeam
Trinity Games

I'd say start with vanilla conquest and see what happens from there. It's hard to know at this point which modes/maps will be best.

I'm interested. I don't want a repeat of BF3 though. We rarely had enough people on to get the server started up beyond that first week.

I tend to prefer a small set of popular large conquest maps in vanilla, but I didn't play the destruction mode during beta so I'd have to give the other modes a try.

I will be around more/earlier. A few of my projects are in post-release monitoring now.

I'll be ordering soon. I played Alpha and Beta. (Both sucked because of poor frame rates and visual quality but I will still try the full game, well it was a beta...).
I have to agree with NT about vanilla conquest, but not hardcore. While hardcore appeals to a smaller group of players who like the "realistic" feel for the game it will drive casual pubber's away.
HfG have been using NFO as their provider and I have had good results and ping rates playing on their servers, and I believe they are sub renting BF4 servers at :97 cents per slot. Don't know what the going rate is, but people do rent from them.

Hope this helps.

Should we try out a smaller server first, say 32 to 48 players, or just go all in with a 70 player server? (64 player slots, 2 commanders, 4 spectators)

If we can run an adaptive server that scales for player size thatd be great. I dunno what options they have.

I liked the basic map we were on...I hate 3d spotting though.

I like the idea of an adaptive server. If we can make seeding the server more fun we can make the server more better.

So the game is out now and some of us got a chance to try out all the maps. There are some great maps in the game, but after running through them I think can provide better feedback on the direction for the server.

Right, but hear me out. Again, after reviewing the maps it's become clear that we should run a 24/7 Siege of Shanghai server.

Yeah Siege is pretty much the only good map... I second 24/7 Siege of Shanghai

Uncertain about ordering soon; but will likely order eventually.

I have now bought the Game.

a few questions.

Is Teamspeak still the prefered VOIP client?
What is the admin software for the game? Is it still blackbagops?

I myself am a fan of hardcore game modes, but I will happily play what you guys choose

Teamspeak is where we all are: ts3.dontcamp.com

I'm not sure what the preferred admin software is now, I don't think it's blackbagops though.

Sorry for the slow movement on getting the server, I've been playing catch up this week.

Guys, I'm so sorry for the delay. I'm picking this project back up this week but we may not have a game server until this weekend.
