Lots of games have these now (Especially EA), but here is my problem.

As a premium member, what actual benefits do you actually receive? fair enough you get some new dog tags in BF4, yay for a new .jpeg!!
As a premium member, you get the map before non premium members, is this not just classed as beta testing? because any bugs you encounter will (should) be fixed by the general release time.

I just cant see the point in the initial payout of £39.99 for early DLC, especially this time around when they are using maps from the last few games (which is insulting)

Premium is essentially a discounted price to purchase all the DLC. This assumes that you will want to purchase every DLC. If you want all the DLC, Premium is absolutely worth it as it is significantly cheaper than buy each DLC individually.

Premium does give you the chance to unlock weapon attachments earlier with the Gold Battle packs each month. That is kinda nice.

The extra XP can be nice to help unlock classes and vehicle gadgets. Bonus.

I like having access to all the weapons across all the DLC. I find the variety keeps the game interesting for me. This is based on my experience with BF3 - I was almost willing to shell out premium just for the extra guns.

Early access is stupid. Yay, I have to wait 2 weeks to play with my friends! It's almost billed as the opportunity to get 2 weeks of practice with the new maps so you have the upper hand when the "Civilians" get their chance at the new DLC. This is stupid. Early access is stupid. I want to play a multiplayer game with people. It's like showing up to a party a day early, pretty boring by yourself, isn't it? Early access is not a valid selling point in my book. The extra dog tags, camo, and emblem pieces are stupid. I don't care for those.

If (discounted DLC + Gold Battle Pack/mo + Double XP) is worth premium membership, then buy premium. Or, if you are simply going to buy all the expansion packs, buy premium.

Note that each DLC expansion is $15 USD standalone. 5 DLC would cost $75 USD. Premium costs "only" $50 USD, so there is an obvious savings in buying Premium if you are going to buy all 5 DLC expansion packs.

BF3 saw a shift in DLC purchasing habits when compared to BF2. BF2 had several expansions that almost no one bought and played. BF3, on the other hand, saw a huge buy-in to all the DLC. Almost all the maps were played and everyone liked the new weapons that came with some of the DLC. I think we will see a similar trend for BF4.

I foresee the Dontcamp server running some of the DLC maps in the future. We won't be playing them all but I presume that we will find several of the DLC maps worth playing in the regular rotation. We just need to find out which ones those are.
