So we learned something very important that you all need to know.

Javelins, by themselves, will do a consistent 30 damage to any vehicle. Javelins in combination with a PLD, SOFLAM, or SUAV laser from the Recon class will yield 50 damage. Two shot kill on a Tank and the Javelins can be fired from behind cover. Javelins can lock onto a target that has be laser designated, the shooter doesn't need to have line-of-sight. Only the laser designator needs line-of-sight to the target. When firing at a laser designated target the Javelin fires damn near vertical, allowing it fire over most walls and some buildings.

We knew all this.

What we didn't know is that SRAW can work the exact same way except it will do 55 damage when used in conjunction with a laser. Given that the SRAW can also be dumb fired I think the SRAW is the best weapon when you've got a squad backing you up.

You can even shoot down Choppers and Attack Jets (Stealth Jets are too fast).

So....

Given a Squad of 5:
2x SRAW Gunners
1x Recon with SOFLAM and PLD
1x Support with Ammo box and APS
Optional - 1x Medic

With this setup, I suggest the Recon player uses a carbine to provide close-in anti-infantry support when not using the PLD. Otherwise, The Recon can drop his SOFLAM, pointing towards the likely avenues of approach for vehicles and it will auto-spot most targets for the SRAW gunners. Obviously the Support player will provide ammo but he and the Recon are dedicated to keeping enemy infantry from getting to the SRAW gunners. The Support player can setup an APS around the SRAW gunners to guard against aircraft. If, for some reason, the SRAW gunners need to use the dumb fire/wire guided mode, the APS can help shield them from tank and LAV rounds long enough to get their shots off.

We don't use the Support class's APS nearly enough. Now is the time.

Remember, the SRAW gunners can fire from cover and shouldn't have to expose themselves if their vehicle target is laser designated.

The Recon's PLD is great for a backup to the SOFLAM or to laser designate air targets. The SOFLAM is great because it is remotely operated. Place it on a roof so as not to draw attention to the squad. One tactic, Golmud is a great map for this, is to place a SOFLAM between the squad and the enemy base so that it points back towards the squad in such a way that enemy tanks will be laser designated between the SOFLAM and the SRAW gunners as it passes the SOFLAM. This allows the SRAW gunners to be in-rage of the target, it also hides the SOFLAM from the armor's view as it should be behind them, and it doesn't give away the SRAW gunner's positions.

We did a test run on Dish and it worked very well. NT and Z also tried this on a Caspian border round and I think it was working well for them. We then tried this on Oman and damn near killed the server with rage quitters.

Also of note: It appears that any weapon that can lock on to a laser will deal extra damage to its target. I noticed this by shooting laser guided missiles from Stealth jets. These jets can carry two laser guide missiles that can be fired one after another. Normally you'll end up doing 60 damage to a target if both hit. Fire them at a laser designated target and you'll kill it out-right. This makes the Stealth Jets very powerful if you've got a team running with lasers.

Lasers make everything awesome.

Some of you didn't know that Razz

The RPG7 used to do even more than that before they took out the laser tracking.
