Battlenonsense made the following video talking about why he thinks pre-ordering is bad. he also points out the differences between pre-order and crowdfunding.

As you might have guessed, since I posted a video ridiculing pre-orders, that I am against pre-orders.

Funding something and pre-ordering are not even in the same category. Kickstarters are funding something you want made.

For example, if Disney said they would make a new X-Wing vs Tie Fighter but only if it met funding goals, my wallet would be out in the blink of an eye.

I preorder if it's from a reputable company that has a long history of excellence and continues to earn my faith. Till the BF4 fiasco I had no problems laying out the money for each new iteration of the franchise. DICE/EA blew it and caused serious harm to the brand that they can never take back.

That leaves me with the following companies that I trust blindly:

Blizzard Entertainment
Valve
Firaxis
2K Games
